Helado Negro, real name Roberto Carlos Lange, is a major figure on the American music scene. Born in Florida, the descendant of Ecuadorian immigrants now lives in Brooklyn and frequently references both his teenage years and his Ecuadorian roots in his music.
Helado Negro’s music reflects his identity. In his compositions, the musician freely switches from English to Spanish and, enchanted by the melody, the listener often notices it only after several bars. His music is life-affirming, direct and full of subtle, almost whispered hints. It is rich in atmospheric and dreamlike impressions.
