Heitinga and Hofland are allowed to work as head coach after obtaining their diploma | NOW

John Heitinga and Kevin Hofland are now allowed to work independently as coaches in professional football. The former internationals of the Dutch national team have completed their UEFA Pro training.

Heitinga and Hofland are among the eleven graduates from ‘the class of 2019’. The others are Kristof Aelbrecht, Rick Kruys, Rogier Meijer, Rob Penders, Aleksander Rankovic, Paul Simonis, Jessica Torny, Dave Vos and Willem Weijs.

The team hoped to be able to get the diploma at the beginning of this year, but they could not finish the course at the time due to the corona crisis. The KNVB then granted them dispensation, so that they could still be ultimately responsible at a club.

Hofland and Rankovic were fired earlier this season at Fortuna Sittard and ADO Den Haag respectively. Both had to leave because of the disappointing sporting results in the Eredivisie.

After Vera Pauw, Hesterine de Reus and Sarina Wiegman, Torny is the fourth woman to complete the UEFA Pro training.

The UEFA Pro training is the highest trainer training in the Netherlands. Trainers who are in possession of the license are authorized to work independently as head coach in national and international professional football.
