According to authorities, the 71-year-old man was one of 25 members and supporters of far-right groups plotting the alleged coup d’état who were arrested early Wednesday in a nationwide crackdown.
The real estate developer has publicly championed the theory for years that life is better all over the world under monarchies. He belonged to the House of Reuss, which for centuries controlled part of the present state of Thueringen until the German Revolution of 1918 which led to the founding of the Weimar Republic.
“If things don’t go well, go to the prince,” said Heinrich.
“Who should you talk to today? Your MP, at local, federal or European level? Good luck!” he added as quoted by ReutersThursday (8/12/2022).
In his speech, peppered with anti-Semitic conspiracies, he said that Germany has been a vassal state since World War II and needed to regain its sovereignty through a peace deal.

He said monarchies around the world, including France, were being overthrown due to interference from foreign powers who wanted to build profit-seeking corporate structures.
“As a result, people are suffering,” he said.
German prosecutors said on Wednesday that Heinrich had contacted a Russian representative, who the group sees as the main point of contact in shaping its new order. They said there was no evidence the representatives had reacted positively to the request.
