Heinrich Sasse dies unexpectedly: Rinteln loses a right democrat

For more than 33 years, Sasse and the community of Rinteln voters have contributed constructively to the development of our city and the Schaumburg area. Sasse was the complete opposite of the political backbench. Always shrewd and aggressive, he put a personal stamp on many council meetings.

As a persistent detective, after a million-dollar breach of the “Weser-Renaissance Adventure World” he even took the district administrator to court to find out how high the millions in damage claims were. What was important to him was the transparency of political action and the clear handling of complaints.

Heinrich Sasse was controversial, but he was always reasonable

As a first lieutenant in the reserve, he represented defense democracy. As a keen hunter, he still had no heart to shoot an animal, but preferred to enjoy nature.

With his controversial way of doing politics, Heinrich Sasse not only made friends. Verbally, he preferred to use a broadsword rather than a foil, but he was always correct and fought with an open visor – even his critics did not dispute that. He was tough on the matter, but he was not a shy man – after a controversial war of words, he was always ready to work together again without any doubt on the next project.

From a farmer’s son to a successful lawyer

Heinrich Sasse always worked like a man who got nothing in life. As the son of a farmer, his career as a successful lawyer and notary was not born in his cradle. Who had learned early to stand up for himself. And as a lawyer, he always wanted to get the best out of his clients. He fought and argued for Rinteln for over 30 years. He was proud of the honors he received as a member of a strong student association in Göttingen.

He joined the Bütt with enthusiasm as “Lilo Wanders’ female representative” at the Rinteln carnival. Or, when he was younger, he got his hands dirty on construction sites with his truck.

Vom opposition politician zum Gestalter

Sasse resigned as a right-wing opposition politician in the last legislative sessions; he worked with Mayor Thomas Priemer and more recently Mayor Andrea Lange in a reliable way, and the proven conservative even found a constructive cooperation with the Greens in recent years.

Heinrich Sasse died on October 15 at the age of 71. The dedicated fighter for the needs of our city will leave a great void at future council meetings.
