“If some teams continue to lag behind without getting a tie in the future, especially the clubs that play internationally, then you will have to find another solution. In the end, the solution can be that you have to play a playoff round,” said the Goalkeeper of MT Melsungen of “Sport Bild”. In connection with cancellations and postponements due to the corona pandemic, there is currently up to four games difference between the clubs in the Bundesliga.
“To play the title with playoffs and to clarify the relegation question with playdowns is a sensible alternative for me,” said Heinevetter. The head of the Handball Bundesliga, Frank Bohmann, said: “Our working group is also looking at a possible play-off model. Silvio Heinevetter’s idea is not completely absurd.”
