Augsburg (dpa) – The coach of the Bundesliga soccer club FC Augsburg, Heiko Herrlich, has praised the idea of a two-week Corona training camp for all clubs as “smart considerations”.
The risk of infection would thus be further minimized, said the 49-year-old in an interview with the “Augsburger Allgemeine”. “If a team had to go into quarantine for a longer period of time during the English week, there would be little room for relocations.”
The background to this is the proposal by the German Football League (DFL) to send the clubs in the first and second Bundesliga to a quarantine training camp to safeguard match days 29 to 31. This should take place between April 14th and 26th. A decision should be made eight days in advance.
Before the Bundesliga restarted last season, the clubs had also gone into isolation. At that time, Herrlich had made a violation of the DFL’s hygiene concept public: Because he had run out of toothpaste and skin cream, he went shopping in a supermarket. If it comes to such a training camp again, he can promise one thing: “I will have enough toothpaste and skin cream with me.”
