It writes the Norwegian Handball Association in one press release.

There are personal reasons why the Vipers player will not be available for the handball girls during this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo, it is stated in the press release.

She emphasizes that she is still motivated for the next Olympics in three years.

– I have good memories from previous Olympics, but this time it is right for me to prioritize differently, and stay at home with the family. I am still just as hungry and motivated for national team games, and the next Olympics is in just three years, says Løke.

The string player took Olympic gold in London in 2012 and bronze in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

National team manager Thorir Hergeirsson says in the press release that he supports Løke’s decision.

– We in the national team management understand that Heidi needs to prioritize differently now, and support her decision. The door to the national team is open, and she is welcome back to fight for a place on the team when she is ready for it, he says.

Løke was with Vipers vant Champions League last weekend. She has previously been named the world’s best player and made her national team debut back in 2006.
