Hugh Hefner built his Playboy empire by creating his own “sex-positive” world.
However, it was far from Hefner’s own view of sex – reveals his widow Crystal Hefner.
Crystal was Hugh Hefner’s third and last wife. They married in 2012 and lived together in his Playboy Mansion until his death in 2017. They met in 2008, when she was 21 and he was 82.

In her book “Only say good things: Surviving Playboy and finding myself”, the now 37-year-old model describes her first meeting with Hefner:
During a Halloween party in the huge mansion in Los Angeles, she was asked about having group sex with Hugh. It was, according to Crystal, a sex without both kissing and intimacy and something that happened exactly the same way every time.
“Pick some girls at the party and bring them up. Change into work clothes: silk pajamas. Dim the light. The music. The porn. Send around the grass. And then the sex”.
Hugh Hefner had ‘robot-like’ sex
Hefner used to look bored during the act and she preferred group sex with other women to being alone with him, at the same time she didn’t enjoy it.
“Here I was in the Playboy Mansion, in Hugh Hefner’s bed with Hugh Hefner inside me, beautiful naked women around me, and nothing about it was sexy.”
The bad sex remained bad throughout the marriage and Crystal describes it as “strange” and “robotic”, completely without passion.
“It was like Hef was just going through the motions of something that had once been fun and sexy,” she writes. “Or, maybe it was never fun and sexy”.
“After a while he was done. No orgasm, just finished. Suddenly he beckoned us to leave him, he almost pushed us aside…”
The couple stopped having sex in 2014, when Hugh Hefner was 88. It was for Crystal “a relief”.

She writes in the book that Hefner had “spyholes” in his bed frame – something she believes proves that he recorded his sexual escapades.
He allegedly told her he had “A-list celebrities” on VHS tapes and also “videos of wild orgies, including celebrities, politicians and business executives, some of whom were married.”
