Hedge Star Mikkel Rygaard on Handling a Loss and Future Goals: Post-Match Interview with Häcken Player

Hedge star Mikkel Rygaard was critical of how the team handled the match against BP, where a 1-0 lead at half-time turned into a 2-1 loss after 90 minutes.

– Every time we are on the pitch we still want to win. It feels a bit sad, actually, that we don’t make a better match, he says.

What is it due to?
– I think there are too many who don’t want it enough. When we have nothing to play for, there are too many who don’t want it one hundred percent. It’s something we have to work on because we still have two Europa League games to go, we have a lot to play for and we have to be better than we were today. We all have to get up, says Rygaard and notes.

– I really wanted to win the match.

Teammate Tobias Sana, who jumped into the second half, however, does not recognize himself in what Rygaard describes.

– It’s up to him if he feels that way, I was a little too short on the pitch. I think everyone had the attitude that we would go for three points, says Sana.

As I said, Hecken had nothing to play for in the last round. And since the team had already secured third place, they had to receive a prize on the indoor pitch afterwards.

– When you cod a match, of course it’s not fun to get a prize, it feels a bit strange. But if we’re going to sit on the bus today and look back on the season, it’s all right because we’ve had matches in Europe, but right now it’s a bit boring, he says and admits that the European Games have worn on the team both physically and mentally.

Third place, however, means that the team will once again qualify for Europe next year.

– Hopefully we will have more experience by then, notes Rygaard.

When asked if he will remain in Häcken next season, he answers.

– In football it’s never a guarantee, but I have a contract next year with, so then I’ll be in Häcken.
