Swede Hector Dominates First Run in Kranjska Gora Giant Slalom
Kranjska Gora, Slovenia – Veteran skier Sara Hector of Sweden put on a stunning display in the first run of the women’s giant slalom competition, seizing a commanding lead. The 32-year-old, starting fourth, blazed down the course, establishing a significant advantage over her competitors.
Hector’s notable performance resulted in a 1.13-second lead over Albania’s Lara Colturi, who secured second place. Norway’s Thea Louise Stjernesund rounded out the top three.
This strong showing continues a accomplished season for Hector. She previously claimed victory at killington in November and earned a second-place finish at Semmering, Austria, in December, showcasing her consistent prowess in giant slalom events.
Adding too Sweden’s success, two more Swedish skiers qualified for the second run. Estelle Alphand, starting with a high bib number (43), finished in a tie for 13th place, 2.23 seconds behind Hector. Lisa Nyberg, starting 55th, secured 20th place, 2.81 seconds off the lead. Their performances highlight the depth of talent within the Swedish team.
