Héctor Alterio Receives X Patio de Comedias de Torralba de Caltrava Award

The actor Héctor Alterio received the X Patio de Comedias de Torralba de Caltrava Award last night, for his relevance and professionalism on the Spanish scene, for his versatility when it comes to acting, adapting to different genres and styles and for becoming a benchmark in the performance for peers, viewers and critics.

Excited and grateful, the actor received the award from the mayoress, María Antonia Álvaro. Héctor Alterio thanked this recognition, which he defined as “a gift and an honor” and thanked everyone “for this wonderful night, for what we have experienced and for what is to come”.

For her part, María Antonia Álvaro congratulated the actor and highlighted his impressive artistic background and his professionalism, which means that at 93 years of age he continues to perform on stage “making us feel, move, have fun and even anguish, as he did tonight with his brilliant interpretation.

The mayoress took advantage of the occasion to request “more financial support from the Provincial Council, the Community Board and the INAEM so that the Festival achieves the regional and national projection it deserves”, because “we are at a very important level of plays that it has nothing to envy to the Almagro Festival and the resources we have are very limited”.

Álvaro thanked the 120 subscribers of the Patio de Comedias, all the public and private institutions and entities that collaborate with the Festival; to the Municipal Corporation; to the Friends of the Patio Association and to the Teatrería; the Culture technician, Jesús Antonio González; to the sound and lighting technicians and to all the team that makes this event possible.

The Councilor for Culture, Ana Martínez, read the minutes of the X Patio de Comedias Prize, in which the reasons for the award of said prize were explained, which in previous editions has gone to great figures of the scene such as María Galiana, Carlos Hipólito , Rafael Álvarez ‘El Brujo’, Lola Herrera, Silvia Marsó, Concha Velasco, María Fernanda D’Ocón, José Sacristán or the former director of the National Theater Museum, Andrés Peláez.

The presenter of the act, José Luis Pérez, read the adhesions to this recognition from the general director of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM) and the Friends of the Playground Association. In the first statement, Héctor Alterio was defined as one of the most admired and beloved actors in our country. For its part, the statement from the Friends of the Patio de Comedias Association had an impact on the figure of this consecrated interpreter as a great defender of man, peace and freedom.

One of the most emotional moments of the act came from the daughter of the honoree, the also actress Malena Alterio, who, through a video, expressed the love and admiration she feels for her father. “There are no actors capable of transmitting so much humanity, who move so much and who have that sense of humor,” she pointed out, while she highlighted her luck for having had him as a reference.

Prior to the award ceremony, Héctor Alterio starred in ‘As 3,000 years ago’, a play in which “poetry becomes theater and theater poetry”. Accompanied by José Luis Merlín on guitar, Alterio performed a selection of texts by the poet León Felipe in an emotional and unique show that moved the audience.

In previous statements to the media, the regional deputy and president of the Popular Party of Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñez, who also attended the event, stressed that “we are facing one of the most important festivals” and noted that “giving up Culture It’s never an option.” Likewise, he indicated that “you believe in Culture and betting on it in any of its expressions is not only a sign of good health for the municipality but also a sign of intelligence and commitment to the future.”

For her part, the second vice president of the Ciudad Real Provincial Council, Sonia González, highlighted the importance of the festival and the Patio de Comedias and assured that “from now on, it will have more support from the Provincial Council “because we believe that Culture is We have to take care of it since it is an object of territorial impulse for this province, it drives the economy and it is very important for the development of these towns and the development of rural environments”.

The event was also attended by the fourth vice president of the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, Adrián Fernández; the elected national deputy, Enrique Belda; the mayor of Miguelturra, Ramón Mohíno; representatives of the Friends of the Patio Association and La Teatrería; and councilors of the Torralba de Calatrava City Council Corporation.

The X Torralba de Calatrava Theater and Puppet Festival continues until August 27. This Monday, at 10:30 p.m., the Patio de Comedias will host the world premiere of the play ‘El sueño de las ciudades. From Baudelaire to the other sentimentality’, a fun, different show full of lyricism starring Juanjo Artero and Luisa Gavasa.

The Festival will lower the curtain with the play ‘Pan Duro’, by Jesús Asier Aparicio, which will be staged by the company ‘La Teatrería’ from Torralba de Calatrava, on August 26 and 27 at 10:30 p.m. in the Comedy Yard.
