Heavy traffic on the last weekend back from vacation

(ANSA) – ROME, 01 SEPTEMBER – Heavy traffic on the last weekend back from vacation, with large flows heading north, Anas reports. The red-flagged forecasts were therefore respected. Traffic was down by about 5% compared to last weekend with a concentration of vehicles circulating in particular during the daytime hours between 8 am and 6 pm. The transits recorded by the network of traffic detection sensors distributed along the A2 Autostrada del Mediterraneo were over 2.6 million (-13% compared to last weekend). Return mobility was still high, with traffic heading north 80% higher than in the south direction. As usual, particularly heavy traffic on the northern section of the A2, with about 167,000 vehicles passing through Baronissi and 154,000 at the junction with the A3, up to about 255,000 at Pontecagnano Faiano, which was the busiest section of the entire infrastructure. Traffic along the SS16 Adriatica also decreased slightly (-4%) compared to last weekend, with less than 2 million transits recorded by sensors distributed along its 1000 km. Along the Tyrrhenian coast, compared to the previous weekend, transits were substantially stable along the Aurelia (over 784,000), up by +8% along the Pontina (with 686 thousand transits recorded).
