Instead of dawn, the sky darkened and it began to rain heavily in Asunción this Tuesday. The head of the Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) described the phenomenon and said that it was storm clouds with a significant density of water vapor charges and some ice.
“That means we can’t see the sun,” Eduardo Mingo told NPY.
He mentioned that heavy rains were recorded in the first hours, which will persist throughout the day with moderate to strong intensity.
“It arrived from the west, from the Bajo Chaco area, which was already influenced by storms. We hope it will move to the East. These same conditions will be reflected on route PY02,” Mingo said.
Meteorology foresees a decrease in the chances of rain for this Wednesday, but the conditions will present improvements from this Tuesday.
The weather began to be unstable since the day before in other parts of the country, even causing damage such as in towns in the Department of Paraguarí, where houses were roofless and trees fell due to strong winds.
Eduardo Mingo added that this phenomenon is more characteristic in other seasons of the year and did not rule out that hailstorms may also occur due to the ice load.
“This is more typical of past seasons. We are still in the transition, which is usually from spring to summer. The transition is taking a long time. The atmosphere is trying to settle. We hope this transition leads to something calmer,” he said.
After these weather conditions, in the next few days a slight drop in the temperature of short duration is expected, since for this weekend, again, it would rise considerably.
