A lot of rain is expected in Southern Norway this week. In some places it is assumed that 150 mm of rain could fall until Sunday.
The precipitation that arrives will alternate between snow, sleet and rain on the coast.
Forecasters encourage people to factor in extra time if they go out for a ride and ask people to ride according to conditions.
– If you’re going to the mountains tomorrow, you should drive now or postpone the trip, says meteorologist Dina Stabell.
Hail
Between 15 and 30 cm of snow is expected within 24 hours in southern Norway on Wednesday.
State meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis says easterly winds bring with them moisture from the sea which leads to rain.
– On the coast of Agder it can rain, but you won’t go far inland before it snows, he says.
The weather may lead to slippery roads, but the forecaster believes the snow will cause traffic problems.
A yellow warning has also been issued for strong gusts of wind in parts of Rogaland, Vestland and Møre og Romsdal
– There may be local gusts of 27 to 30 meters per second. It applies Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening, says meteorologist Stabell.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute recommends people secure loose items and avoid unnecessary traffic in exposed locations. There will be snow in the mountains.

– Keep your distance
Traffic operator Kristin Våsjø from Vegtrafikksentralen south asks drivers to follow the weather forecast.
– Regulate your speed, keep your distance and be careful in traffic, says Våsjø.
If you have to cross the mountain, there may be convoys. So Våsjø has the following advice:
– Bring food, clothes and follow the instructions of the plowing staff who are on the mountain.
Cold in the north
High pressure will dominate the weather up north. This means cold temperatures, especially on the Finnmarksvidda.
Temperatures will drop to minus 30 degrees.
Permanent weather and little wind was reported.
