The Congress is igniting a new political controversy amid efforts to put out the Brahmapuram fire. DCC president Mohammad Shias has alleged that the fire was planned by the CPM to cover losses to Sota Infra Tech. It is the company of former LDF convener Vaikom Viswan’s daughter’s husband. This company has been given the contract to remove the treated residue from the biomining plant at Brahmapuram. When this was not possible, the Congress alleged that these remains were set on fire.
A police investigation will be started soon in connection with the fire. The Chief Secretary had instructed the Kochi City Police Commissioner to investigate. The fire broke out in around 70 acres of Brahmapuram.
