Manchester –
Manchester City has been charged with multiple violations regarding its financial statements. Severe sanctions await The Citizens, deducting points to relegation.
On Monday (6/2/2023), reports circulated that the Premier League had dropped charges against Manchester City, over alleged breaches of financial statements.
City is said to have failed to provide ‘accurate information’ regarding its financial statements in nine Premier League seasons, from 2009 to 2018.
The league accused City of failing to reflect ‘fair and proper views’ in financial matters, in particular regarding its income.
Many articles were violated by City in the investigation, which reportedly has been carried out by the Premier League for four years. Heavy sanctions then awaited the Manchester giants
The defending Premier League champions, as reported by the British media, could face severe sanctions. Penalty point reduction to relegation could have been swallowed up by Manchester City.
Even so, there is an assumption that the Premier League will not dare to sanction Manchester City.
“Man City must answer these accusations and accusations. I don’t think the Premier League has the balls to do it, and having the balls to do it is another matter,” said talkSport pundit Simon Jordan.
“I’ve always said they have important questions to answer, and the idea of xenophobia or problems with an objectionable model of ownership because of ethnicity or persuasion is bullshit.”
“It’s about financial injections. I mean they have used the business they own to artificially inflate sponsorship deals that have given them the opportunity to fall within the bounds of financial fair game. There are a lot of accusations here,” he said.
