“The terrorist group and the leaders and perpetrators of this cowardly attempt should know that severe revenge awaits them,” he tweeted, as quoted by Al Araby from the official Iranian news agency, IRNA, Saturday (28/11/2020).
Bagheri called Mohsen Fakhrizadeh’s death a bitter and heavy blow.
“We assure (the Iranians) that we will not rest until we pursue and punish those involved,” he stressed.
The tweet came shortly after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Twitter that there were serious indications of an Israeli role in Fakhrizadeh’s killing.
“Terrorists killed a prominent Iranian scientist today. This cowardice – with a serious indication of Israel’s role – shows the perpetrators’ desperate incitement of war,” Zarif said.
He also called on the international community to end their shameful double standards and condemn Israel’s acts of terror.
