Heavy rains in Jeddah; Two people died and people’s lives were turned upside down

Jeddah | Life in Jeddah was disrupted due to heavy rains. Two deaths were reported. He rained a lot in Jeddah and surrounding areas. Civil protection and security forces have rescued several people who were submerged in water.

According to reports from the National Center of Meteorology, 179 mm of rain was recorded in Jeddah in six hours on Thursday from 8:00 to 14:00. This is more than was recorded during the November 2009 floods.

Many streets in residential areas have been flooded. Several vehicles were damaged. Vehicles were also blown away. Civil Defense spokesman Colonel Mohammad Al Qarni said two deaths were confirmed due to the heavy rain. Haramain Expressway and some other major roads were closed for several hours due to flight delays at King Abdulaziz International Airport.

An alert has been issued in the area. The Civil Protection has also advised that people should not go out when it rains. On 25 November 2009, 122 people died in floods in Jeddah.
