In Charlevoix, trailers installed on the Le Genevrier campground were washed away by the flood waters of the Rivière des Mares. One of these motorized vehicles hit a bridge. Images worthy of a film.

On the verge of tears at the microphone of TVA Nouvelles at the end of the afternoon, the co-owner of the campsite, Paul Labaie, described the losses as “incalculable”. He says he saw about twenty trailers being carried by the current.

Twelve of the company’s 35 cabins were flooded.

Citizens were evacuated to the Aréna Luc-et-Marie-Claude arena, near City Hall.

Route 138 near the Charlevoix dairy is closed since a bridge threatens to fall and is inaccessible between Baie-St-Paul and Saint-Urbain. Motorists must take a detour via Route 362. Public Security Minister François Bonnardel will travel to Baie-Saint-Paul on Tuesday, accompanied by the Minister of the Capitale-Nationale Jonatan Julien, and local MP Kariane Bourassa.

In the heart of downtown Baie-Saint-Paul, where traffic from Route 138 is diverted, the level of the Bras du Nord-Ouest river was very high while the backyards of residences began to be covered with water. .

The heavy rains of the last few hours have led to the overflow of the Gouffre River and the closure of several roads, including the 138.

Moreover, at a press conference, the mayor of Baie-Saint-Paul confirmed that a major leak was affecting the municipality’s water system.

A boil water advisory has been issued for the next few days for the entire territory of the municipality. Citizens are encouraged to boil the water three minutes before consuming it, and may observe a certain drop in pressure.

The mayor took advantage of the press conference to ask his citizens to stay at home.

“The safest place is at home,” he said, asking to let the emergency services work.
