Heavy rain, TPT on Jalan Ciamis-Kawali Landslide

Ciamis News, (harapanrakyat.com),- The Cliff Retaining Wall (TPT) which is above the Ciamis-Kawali road, to be precise at RT 01, RW 03, Pasir Datar Hamlet, Mekarjaya Village, Baregbeg District, Ciamis Regency, West Java, collapsed due to heavy rain, Wednesday (8/08). 12/2021) around 15.00 WIB.

As a result, traffic jammed. Some of the stuck vehicles could not continue their journey.

Ujang, a local resident when met by HR Online, Wednesday (12/8/2021), said that the TPT avalanche was due to the drainage channel at the location not functioning properly, so water flowed into the cracked part of the wall.

“The water was flowing quite hard because it was raining heavily, so it seeped into the cracks in the TPT walls. As a result, landslides occur, especially the water channels are not functioning properly,” he said.

Furthermore, said Ujang, the TPT is a buffer for the village road to the Pasir Datar hamlet. While below it is the national road, namely the Ciamis-Kawali highway and the avalanche threatens a house not far from the location.

“The TPT that collapsed was ten meters long and four meters high. Luckily it didn’t cover the national road so it didn’t interfere with traffic flow,” he said.

Ujang said, the TPT avalanche was blocked by trees and telephone poles, so it did not cover the national road, namely the Ciamis-Kawali highway.

“However, the drainage channel which has just been repaired is closed and the water overflows onto the road,” he explained.

According to Ujang, residents then swept the rocks that were scattered on the road, this was to prevent accidents. Because the location of the landslide is right on the national road which is busy with vehicles.

“Due to the landslide, residents are also advised, especially those using four-wheeled vehicles, to be careful when passing through a landslide because the soil is dangerously unstable,” he said.

In fact, continued Ujang, vehicles such as trucks with heavy loads are not expected to pass through this road.

“I’m afraid the road will collapse because there are no supports. Even because the conditions continue to rain, it is possible for the TPT to return to landslides,” he said.

Ujang admitted that he had reported the incident to the Mekarjaya Village government. “This report is very important so that the government can later return to repair the TPT which was destroyed by the rain,” he concluded. (ES / R7 / HR-Online / Editor-Ndu)
