Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Claim Lives in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab Provinces

At least 19 people died and dozens were injured after heavy rains and thunderstorms hit several parts of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces today.

In Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at least 11 people died and 73 others were injured in roof and wall collapse-related accidents, according to media.

At least 5 people were killed and 73 others injured in Laki Marwat district in wall collapse accidents.

The director general of the rescue organization 1122 said in a statement that the relief operation is underway in the affected areas, and the injured are being transferred to hospitals.

Also, heavy rains along with strong winds lashed several parts of Punjab including Sargodha, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and other districts.

In Chan village of Khushab district of the province, three girls died after the wall of their house collapsed due to heavy rains, while at least 10 people were injured in rain-related accidents in Gujranwala district.
