Weather Alert: Heavy Notice of the Civil Protection, Bad Weather, Wind and Snow at times in the Plains are coming
Red alert national civil protection BAD WEATHER: More rain, snow and strong winds in the Center-South
During the weekend, cold air from Russia will involve Italy, bringing a strong wave of bad weather towards the Central-South Adriatic.
On the basis of the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the regions involved – which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned – has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions which extends the previous ones. The weather phenomena, impacting on the various areas of the country, could determine hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities which are reported, in a national summary, in the national criticality and alert bulletin which can be consulted on the Department’s website (www.protezionecivile.gov.it).
For the day of Saturday 5 March:
Rainfall: – scattered, also in reverse or temporal character, on the Adriatic sectors of southern Abruzzo and Molise and on southern Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and northern and western sectors of Sicily, with cumulated quantities generally low, up to punctually moderate in the aforementioned sectors Abruzzo and Molise and on the Adriatic sectors of central-northern Puglia; – isolated on the remaining eastern slopes of Abruzzo and Molise, on the rest of Sicily and on the Tyrrhenian sector of southern Lazio, with low cumulative quantities.
Snowfall: above 400-600 m in western Piedmont, with weak contributions to the soil; above 300-500 m in Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise and northern Puglia, with moderate contributions to the soil at the upper altitudes of the Abruzzo massifs, weak elsewhere; above 500-800 m in central Puglia, Basilicata and eastern and southern Campania, with moderate contributions to the soil in southern Campania and western and southern Basilicata, weak in the other areas; initially above 1300-1500 m, down to 800-1000 m, on Calabria and Sicily, with moderate contributions to the ground on Sila and Pollino where the snow level at the end of the day can drop down to 500-700 m, weak on the remaining areas. Visibility: no significant phenomenon.
Temperature: the maximums in southern Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata and northern Calabria also decreased significantly; minimum locally low in the North and in the flat areas and inland valleys of the Center.
Winds: locally strong north-eastern ones on the upper Adriatic side and on Tuscany, upper Lazio and the Umbrian-Marche Apennines, with possible gusts also in the Umbrian valleys; locally northern forts on Sardinia; tending to strong from the northern quadrants on Campania, central-southern Puglia, Sicily and the Ionian sectors of Basilicata and central-northern Calabria.
Big: very rough the northern Adriatic; the Ligurian Sea off the coast, the central Tyrrhenian-west sector, the Sardinian Sea and, from the afternoon, the central Adriatic, the west sector of the southern Tyrrhenian and the Sardinia Channel tend to be very wavy

The information on the regional alert levels, on the specific criticalities that could affect the individual territories and on the prevention actions adopted are managed by the territorial civil protection structures, in contact with which the Department will monitor the evolution of the situation.
