Heavy night for Olsen – stood for giant blunders in the Sheffield debut

During the last hours of the transfer window, Robin Olsen was ready for Sheffield United in the English second division Championship. But it was not until Tuesday night before the debut for the new club came – and it became a heavy one.

At the score 1-0 against Preston North End, after an early lead goal by Wolverhampton loan Morgan Gibbs-White, Olsen offered Preston an equalizer. The Swedish national team goalkeeper was going to steer away from a long ball, but completely misjudged the ball field. Instead, the ball reached Daniel Johnson who could easily roll in 1-0 in the open goal.

But Sheffield United came back. Norwegian Sander Berge put 2-1 with six minutes left to play regular time – and then it looked like it would be three points for the home team.

But then the next killing blow would come. In the 95th minute of the match, Preston equalized again, this time through Emil Riis Jakobsen, and that was also the end result.

A day at work Robin Olsen probably wants to forget very quickly – but one point is at least better than none.
