The fighting between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip has flared up sharply in recent days. 160 planes took part on Friday in what is described as the most powerful bombing so far, writes Sky News. On Friday morning, rocket attacks from the Palestinian side continued. The Times of Israel reports that sirens that warn of the danger of rocket attacks have rang in the border towns through Friday.

The Jerusalem Post reports that close to 2,000 rockets have been fired since Monday.

The newspaper writes that several hundred artillery shells and around 50 shells were fired from tanks. Despite erroneous reports, no personnel or materiel have crossed the border, according to a military spokesman.
