Heavy house fire in Bergen

The police in the West police district informs that there is a heavy fire in a detached house on Fana in Bergen.

– It is a detached house in full fire and there is a risk of spreading. We are unsure whether there are people there, says watch commander Helge Lund to VG.

At 21.45 the police report that the house on fire is empty. It is unclear why it started to burn.

– It was not difficult to see the fire. It was simply quite disgusting. The porch door was open and I heard banging and noises through the open door. After a little while there were lots of sirens and fire engines, she tells Dagbladet.

She says that the situation has now calmed down and that at 10pm she does not see flames outside the window.

– Now there are no flames, just a lot of blue light, she says.

She adds that she is happy that the home appears to have been empty when the fire broke out.

The fire is in a densely built-up area, and several houses nearby are being evacuated. Everyone on the scene has been accounted for, the West Operations Center says on Twitter.

– No one injured

Operations manager Knut Dahl-Michelsen in the police tells BT shortly before 10pm that five people live at the address, and that four were at home when the fire started.

No injuries have been reported so far.

Emergency services are still working on the scene.
