“Heavy fines and vehicle impoundment for driving in flood-prone areas in Dubai”

Dubai – The Ministry of Interior has said that if you drive in the danger zone in bad weather, you will be fined heavily. A fine of 2000 dirhams is levied for driving in flood-prone areas in the valleys. If you enter the flooded valleys with your vehicle, the vehicle will be impounded for 60 days in addition to the fine.

23 black marks will also be recorded on the driver’s license. Those who congregate in valleys and near streams during rainy weather will be fined Dh1,000. 6 black marks will be printed on their driving license. The new law deals with safety in emergency situations.

A fine of 1,000 dirhams is imposed for violations of the law, such as obstructing an ambulance arriving for help in situations such as rain and flood, or obstructing a rescue mission. In this case also the vehicles will be impounded for 60 days. The driver will also get 4 black marks.
