“Harsh” is the fine imposed by the ESR on Alpha and Tatiana Stefanidou’s show, for the way they covered the case of the 12-year-old from Colonos.
According to the decision, the ESR concluded that the defendant violated the broadcasting legislation in terms of:
- the obligation to respect the personality of a person referred to in a broadcast,
- the prohibition of identification of a minor victim of a crime against sexual freedom and
- the obligation to ensure the quality level of the programs and even continuously.
In this context, the Council decided on the administrative sanction of the fine:
- of 30,000 (thirty thousand) euros for not respecting the personality of a person mentioned in a broadcast,
- of 30,000 (thirty thousand) euros for the identification of a minor victim of a crime against sexual freedom and
- of 15,000 (fifteen thousand) euros for the low quality program level.
