Heavy artillery rains down on eastern Ukraine, very tense atmosphere

DONBASS – Two independent republics in the Donbass region, eastern Ukraine, accused Kiev forces of stepping up attacks on their positions on Sunday night (20/2/2022).

Territories controlled by the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) were the target of heavy artillery fire during the day.

The onslaught is thought to have escalated at night, according to a video circulating online on social media.

“Right now, the situation is worse than the last few days. We detected about 700 rounds of ammunition fired into the territory of the republic (on Sunday),” the spokesman for the DPR militia, Eduard Basurin, told Russian media.
