The Ukraine war and fears about the future energy supply have fueled the demand for so-called wood fireplaces – heat sources independent of oil and gas, heated with raw materials from local forests. Specialist dealers and stove builders, who are under a lot of pressure, can hardly keep up when it comes to advice and service, and stove manufacturers’ delivery times are getting longer and longer.
Uwe Brückner, master stove builder in Sexau, manages his appointments with a handwritten notebook. From Monday to Saturday, it shows one consultation and service appointment after the other. “In the case of fireplaces and tiled stoves, the high season used to be from September to the following February; then demand slacked off. But now we’re almost without a transition into the next high season.”
