Heating oil: Its availability starts at 1.15-1.17 euros/liter –

The sale of heating oil begins today, October 15, the price of which is expected to be at its lowest level since 2022.

The average price in Attica is expected to be 1.15-1.17 euros per liter, with an upward escalation in the region and the islands due to transportation costs.

Last year -according to the data of the Price Observatory of the Ministry of Development- the nationwide average price of heating oil at the beginning of the period it was 1.425 euros per liter (in Attica 1.4 euros) and the 2022 formed respectively nationwide in 1,409 euros and in Attica at 1,379 euros.

Market sources said that consumption figures in April, at the end of the heating season, show that the majority of consumers it has no oil stored for next winter. They estimate that despite the fact that the weather still does not force the oil market, those who believe that there is a risk of an increase in international prices will rush to order.

The criteria

The heating allowance will be given based on the following income criteria:

  • 16,000 euros for the single
  • 24,000 euros for the married person with an increase of 5,000 euros for each child.
  • For a single-parent family – without the child supplement – the limit is set at 26,000 euros
  • There is also a property limit, 200,000 euros for unmarried beneficiaries and 300,000 euros for married ones. The forecast in the draft budget refers to an expenditure of 250 million euros.

It should be noted that it has not yet been clarified whether for new beneficiaries, that is, those who submit an application for the first time this year, the limits will be lower, i.e. 14,000 for the unmarried and 20,000 for the married without children, as was the case last year.

In any case, there is also a property limit, 200,000 euros for unmarried beneficiaries and 300,000 euros for married ones. The fiscal cost for the subsidy will cost 237 million euros, down from 280 million last year.

In addition, this year a cutter is introduced for natural persons who carry out business activity so that if they have more than 80,000 euros in annual turnover, they will not be beneficiaries.

The subsidies

In the next few days, the issuance of the KYA is expected for the details of payment of the heating allowance and the start of the applications.

The allowance will range between 100 and 800 euros – up to 1,000 in the traditionally much colder regions of the country, where the needs for heating are greater and therefore the consumption of oil or other heating sources is greater.

The final amount of the allowance results from the multiplication of the base of 350 with the so-called degree-day factor which is different for each region of the territory. The allowance is increased by 20% for each child.
