Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – On Thursday, the Egyptian singer Angham and the Israeli army spokesman for the Arab media, Avichai Adraee, entered into a heated debate through their accounts on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter), about the war in Gaza.
The matter began with a tweet by Adrai in which he called on the residents of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip to go to the southern Strip “for their safety,” as he put it, last Monday, and Angham responded with a comment saying in Egyptian colloquial language: “May God take you and relieve us from your distress.”
On Thursday, Avichai published a picture of news about Angham’s comment, and directed his speech to her, saying: “Dear artist Angham, who is supposed to be at a level of sophistication in her posts, God will think of all His servants and there is no one who lives on this earth, but the difference is that there are those who will be thrown into death.” The afterlife is a painful torment, and there are those who will miss him, the Almighty, with His mercy for his human actions.”
He added: “I hope you will not fall into the first category for supporting the plan of ISIS, Hamas, who killed, raped, and burned Israeli civilians while they were sleeping and pushed their people toward hell with the actions of human animals,” as he put it.
Angham responded to Adraee, saying in colloquial terms: “What is your name? You are without sophistication or etiquette, because you do not deserve politeness in speech or interaction. My name is Angham, an Egyptian Arab singer. Do you know what Egyptian means? I mean, Egypt. Sophistication and politeness are with the classy only, not with those like you.” Oh Zionist, we Egyptians know humanity when we sold you the prisoners, you were sick, covered in your pajamas, remember? After the Egyptian army defeated you in the 1973 war and returned Sinai from you who were occupying it, you usurpers.”
She added: “Humanity is innocent of people like you and of the actions of your group and your brutal Nazi army that killed children, women and innocent civilians. Religion is innocent of your actions and lies (and for every action there is a reaction). Look how many actions you have done since the day you occupied the land of Palestine. What is your name!! And Palestine.” Its people are resisting a brutal, crazy, rapist occupier, you murderers of children. And animals are innocent of your brutality.”
