Heat wave: no air conditioning below 26°C in the workplace, really?

In fact, this rule is found in the regulatory part of the Energy Code. Since January 1, 2007, article R.241-30 specifies that “in rooms where a cooling system is installed” (i.e. air conditioning), it must only be put into operation or kept in operation when the interior temperature of the premises “exceeds 26°C.” These provisions are applicable in offices, as well as in private buildings.

The only exceptions concern certain specific cases, such as care establishments, hospitals, places where the elderly or young children are cared for.
