In view of the heat warning issued by the German Weather Service (DWD) for Berlin for the next few days with severe heat stress, City Councillor for Health Uwe Brockhausen and Public Health Officer Patrick Larscheid in the Reinickendorf District Office are once again warning of possible health risks and calling on the population to take preventive measures.
Hot days can cause circulatory problems and physical discomfort. In the worst case, extreme heat can be life-threatening. Typical heat-related symptoms can include dizziness, headaches, exhaustion, nausea and vomiting.
Take protective measures
1. Avoid the heat!
• Do not go into direct sunlight!
• Do not go outside during the hottest time (afternoon)!
2. Keep your body cool and ensure adequate Fluid and electrolyte intake
• Drink enough and regularly.
• Take a cool shower or bath. Cold arm and foot baths also have a relieving effect.
3. Keep your home cool
• Ventilate when it is cooler outside than inside.
• Protect the rooms from direct sunlight.
