Heat sets NBA record: 40/40 in free throws!

Winners at the end of the suspense against the Thunder, the Heat also took the opportunity to make league history. By hitting 40 shots without missing a single one, Miami set a new NBA record!

This is a harmless match on paper. The Heat stripped nearly all of its players against the OKC youth brought in by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Not enough to talk about it at length. Still, it will be said that this January 11, 2023 will remain in the annals of the NBA. The South Beach troupe has in fact created a small feat that will go down in history. They made 40 free throws without missing a single one! It’s simply a new NBA record and if we believe StatMuseMiami does better than the 1982-1983 version of the Jazz, who couldn’t do better than 39. The 1990 Celtics round out the podium with 35 straight attempts.

Already reaching 40 shots is strong enough (no team tonight has shot that many) but more importantly getting a clean lap is quite incredible. Not a single guy with shaking hands, and we especially think Jimmy Butler, scores a perfect 23/23 on the line including this final pitch that delivers victory to Miami at the end of the suspense. It took nerves of steel to put this on, especially when you see where the heat is coming from.

The record may not sell such dreams, but you still have to tell yourself that it has held up for 40 years! You might think it’s a lucky day for Miami, but be careful not to underestimate Floridians in this exercise. This season, the Heat have the best record in the entire NBA on the line, tied with the Celtics. (82.6%)

The Heat players are the kings of the free throw and are masters of a new NBA record here. How long will it take to beat this?
