NEW YORK – The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for parts of the Tri-State area, including New York City, northern New Jersey, the lower Hudson Valley, southern Connecticut and parts of Long Island to Thursday night, the Time Authority announced.
This is because heat indices are expected to exceed 90 degrees in our region.

With the high pressure to the southeast of our area, a stream of hot and humid air is expected to continue to reach the region, says the Authority on Weather.
Additionally, while sweltering heat will hit the area on Wednesday, the worst of the heat is expected Thursday afternoon with an air quality alert in effect tomorrow for northern Garden State.
A cold front would arrive on Friday night bringing some relief from the high temperatures as the rains and thunderstorms progress in the late afternoon and evening that day.
For the weekend it will be cloudy with the possibility of some rain and much cooler temperatures with afternoon highs in the 70s.
Wednesday: high in 91 degrees, sunny, hot and humid. Partly cloudy and humid night with lows in the 70s.
Thursday: maximum at 89 degrees. Mostly sunny, some isolated rain at night.
Friday: Maximum in the 90 degrees, Some storms at night.
Saturday: maximum at 76 degrees. Mostly cloudy with possible rain.
Sunday: maximum at 78 degrees. Mostly cloudy with possible rain.
