Heat grids are an ideal alternative to gas heating, but why aren’t they breaking through (yet)?

For a long time, this pricing has ensured low bills for heat network users, as long as gas prices have been relatively low. But now, in the midst of an energy crisis, the opposite effect is occurring. Extreme price spikes may be behind us, but a kilowatt hour on the Dutch gas exchange TTF still costs € 96 on Tuesday afternoon. Heat network users pay slightly less than those extremely high gas prices, while their heating network is not always gas-fired and production costs are (much) lower.
