A harrowing story was told today in the program “No Man’s Land” on Nova TV. Two boy brothers with a cruel fate – 20-year-old Milen and 10-year-old Pepi from the village of Debelt, Burgas, made the whole of Bulgaria cry.
Millen lost both his hands in an accident at work in October last year. This happens during his first day of work on a machine grinding boards, turning them into pellets. At one point the machine “bites” him and makes mincemeat of his arms and bones. Only the quick intervention of colleagues saved his life. His employer first promises help with prosthetics, then backs off abruptly.
Since then, the lives of both boys are turned upside down and little Pepi begins to take care of his older brother.
The father of the children works, but earns modest means, because of which the children live in very difficult living conditions. The mother grew up in orphanages, has nerve problems and cannot take care of the children. He doesn’t even live with his children.
You can watch the entire heart-touching report by Daniela Trencheva HERE.
Free prostheses have already been arranged for Milen’s hands, which will be made by the company “Innovation Lab” OOD and thanks to Mihail Hristov. On 22.03 (Friday) Milen and his brother will be brought to Sofia by the team of “Give a handTogether for a better future” and the procedure for making prostheses will begin.
To help Pepi and Milen live a more normal life, with human conditions, the boys need support. They live in one room, but they can hardly pay their bills. They need beds (double or one and a half and single), sleeping sets (sheets, duvets, pillows, etc.). They need funds for household expenses, food. Little Pepi needs school supplies and supplies. He really wants to have a phone since it was stolen. He told us that he also likes to ride a bike and wants to have one.
For the boys, we also collect food products – all kinds of food, hygiene items, cosmetics for personal care. Boys need clothes and shoes: for Milen – size 43 and clothes M size; for Pepi – shoes 36/37 size and clothes – size 140-147 cm. We are also looking for a coffee table (not too big) and a microwave oven if possible. For Milen, documents for TELC were submitted three months ago, with the assistance of the village mayor.
The yard needs cleaning, volunteers are wanted.
