The New York City Council will hold a hearing this Monday on the subway surfing, or surfing in the subway, which is still a problem throughout the city.
Members say they want to better understand why this practice is happening and how agencies are dealing with the problem.
A 13-year-old girl was the latest fatality after surfing the subway at the end of last month.
So far this year, six people have died in accidents related to this use on the subway, one more than last year.
The Police Department says they have arrested 181 people so far this year compared to 118 last year.
People say the city needs to do more to prevent young people from dying.
For the hearing, several committees and other government agencies will meet with the MTA to better understand how to move forward.
However, the MTA says it has already been able to get Tik Tok to remove thousands of viral videos from its platform to help curb the trend.
