Healthcare workers now sleep for free in the largest hotel in the Benelux

In the near future, the hotel would be full of guests for the Keukenhof, the Formula 1 race and for the European Football Championship. “UEFA came with a delegation for two months, 340 rooms … Everything is canceled now.”

When Kimberley Wip’s first request for a free room came, he presented it to company founder Atilay Uslu. “The response was immediate, we have to do that. We have apartments that are empty anyway, so make sure they can sleep here.”

Kimberley and Niels have colleagues who are also interested in a room. That is not a problem, according to director De Boer. “They can email us and then we will look. We want to help as many people as possible from the region, outside it is a bit more difficult, but people from the region can email us.”

Birthday

Other hotels are also helping people out of healthcare. For example, healthcare workers can book a room at low prices via hotelshelpen.nl. A holiday park in Schaijk offers cottages for employees who work in the nearby hospital.

Nobody knows how long Kimberley and Niels will stay in the hotel in Badhoevedorp. They do not have to leave for the time being. Niels hopes to be able to return to his mother soon, even though he recently visited her. “It was her last birthday. Then I put a big bunch of flowers in front of the door and I spoke to her from a distance, but I want to get as close to her as possible for the time being.”
