A composting unit in Bras-D’Eau
The Ministry of the Environment has announced its intention to adopt a new strategy aimed at the recovery of green waste with a view to producing compost, thus reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. The idea is to move from a traditional linear method of waste disposal to a circular economy, where waste will be considered a resource.
For this, the ministry intends to build several composting units across the country to divert green waste from landfills. Available statistics show that municipal waste comprises about 27% of green waste. To start the project, the Ministry of the Environment wants to build a first composting unit in Bras-D’Eau within the nursery of the Ministry of Agro-industry and Food Safety.
