Sleep apnea, sexuality …
Sexuality, sleep apnea, Raynaud’s syndrome, urinary tract infection… Some of the videos have exceeded one million views! La Toulousaine aims to respond, with a certain form of lightness, to serious matters. “I explain the mechanisms of the body, while getting straight to the point,” she says, drawing on her lessons. “This social network is perfect for this type of exercise. Must be fast and concise ».
Very varied profiles
People ask her health questions, and Carla Valette tries to answer them very simply, in a fun way, usually with diagrams. And contrary to popular belief, the profiles that follow her on TikTok are very varied, from teenagers to fifties. The young woman of 23 years says he answers both questions from young teenage girls “about the period, the pill …” and the concerns of “young guys”.
The “adult” public, for its part, challenges it on issues surrounding thefood, for example, even more complex subjects such asstroke (Stroke).
A popularization exercise
In Korean fifth year of medicine, Carla Valette admits having to kick in touch in some cases. ” In neurology, for example, I would not allow myself to venture out, ”she confides. “Some subjects are too difficult to popularize”. In general, Carla Valette also refuses any form of diagnosis. “This is not the purpose of the videos! “
The Toulouse student is far from the only one to offer this type of videos on social networks. “Abroad, I know a lot of doctors who offer content, but they don’t always have the visibility they deserve”.
In the footsteps of Doctor Michel Cymes?
In addition to the success on TikTok, Carla Valette now collaborates for the media Curieux.Live. Will it eventually follow in the footsteps of the very media doctor Michel Cymes ? La Toulousaine plays with simplicity, deriving her motivation from the pleasure of making these short videos. But also, you have to know it well, the positive feedback it receives on social networks. “Not only is it rewarding, but it keeps me going! », She concludes.
