Health: the Province recalled the importance that the population apply the reinforcements of the vaccine against Covid-19

The government of Chubut, through the Ministry of Health, has reminded the population of the province of the importance of keeping the vaccination programs against Covid-19 up to date, due to the constant increase in positive cases of Coronavirus recorded in recent weeks throughout the country world.

For this reason, and in accordance with the provisions of the national health portfolio, all people who have received the last dose of vaccine against this disease four months or more ago can go to the nearest vaccination center on their own request to apply the corresponding reinforcements.

Prevention measures

Likewise, the provincial health portfolio has highlighted the need to strengthen the implementation of those prevention measures effective in reducing the transmission of any respiratory virus, among which the following stand out: frequent hand washing with soap and water or hygiene of the same with alcoholic gel ; the correct ventilation of the rooms; the correct use of the chin strap in closed environments; and, fundamentally, preventive isolation at the first appearance of symptoms, avoiding going to work, educational, social activities or public places of any kind.

Symptoms

In this sense, it is necessary to highlight that the symptoms compatible with Covid-19 can be: fever of 37.5º or more, sore throat, difficulty breathing, headache, diarrhea, vomiting, rhinitis or nasal congestion, muscle pain and loss sense of taste or smell.

Integrated surveillance strategy

When asked about this, the provincial director of Prevailing Pathologies and Epidemiology, Mariela Brito, explained that “according to the integrated surveillance strategy in force since April, tests are being carried out on suspected outpatient cases of covid that belong to populations at risk (age over 50 years of age, pregnant women, people with diabetes or immunocompromised) and those people who are part of population groups likely to generate epidemiological outbreaks: residents or workers of closed institutions such as prisons or nursing homes, health and primary care personnel teacher level”.

Recommendations for positive cases

“In the event of diagnostic confirmation of Covid-19, it is essential to adopt extreme preventive measures for a minimum period of 5 days, avoiding contact with people at greater risk”, recalled the provincial contact person, adding that “it is not necessary to go to the work, educational or social activities as long as symptoms persist or for 5 days from the date of diagnosis in asymptomatic cases of Covid-19.

Social responsability

Finally, Mariela Brito stressed that “the current situation is incomparable with the one we live in when we still didn’t have vaccines against Covid-19, and the levels of cases we are observing are far from being similar to those we experienced in the peak of the pandemic; but even so it is very important to strengthen the vaccination campaign and take extreme prevention measures, so that in this way the spread of the virus can be prevented ”.
