On July 9, a meeting between representatives of the Nancy CHRU, the Metz-Thionville CHR, the Grand-Est Regional Health Agency and the Faculty of Medicine, was organized to take stock of the resource difficulties. patients met by the intensive care unit at Bel-Air hospital in Thionville.
“We are indeed facing difficulties concerning the staff of this service,” explains Thomas Talec, Deputy Director General of CHR Metz-Thionville. The team gave a lot during the crisis, they coped remarkably. Unfortunately, today we have a combination of doctors, including the head of service, who are leaving for personal reasons. We could have managed in normal times, but there are too many departures announced in six months. “
The CHR has found solutions internally, by moving specialists from Metz to Thionville, but that is not enough. “So we asked CHRU Nancy for a helping hand, which agreed to help us seriously,” says Thomas Talec. I sincerely thank him. “

Two senior practitioners and interns
At the meeting of July 9, it was proposed by the CHRU Nancy that two senior practitioners from the Nancy establishment would come and practice in Thionville one week out of six, as soon as possible, depending on the schedules and until the situation improved. . These two professionals come from the medical intensive care unit of the central hospital and the Brabois intensive care unit.
Professors Marie-Reine Losser and Bruno Levy have also offered additional academic support to the Metz-Thionville CHR, namely the reinforcement of one or two interns, to the detriment of the CHRU internship sites. “Supporting local establishments is the role of a CHRU,” indicates Bernard Dupont, general manager of CHRU Nancy. This is why we have not hesitated to respond positively to the call of the CHR, even if it means depriving the CHRU of internal resources, because the response to the needs of the population remains our priority for all ”.
