Health: the APTS will be on strike for two days

The Alliance of Professional and Technical Staff in Health and Social Services (APTS) announces two days of general strike across Quebec on June 21 and 22.

Professionals and technicians from the Chaudière-Appalaches Integrated Health and Social Services Center, the Bellevue Pavilion in Lévis and the Saint-Joseph Reception Center in Lévis will be on picket lines during these two days.

The new representative of the APTS in Chaudière-Appalaches, Caroline Marquis, specifies, however, that negotiations continue throughout the weekend to reach an agreement before the strike.

In all, 13 picketing locations have been identified in Chaudière-Appalaches:

  • Saint-Georges hospital;
  • The Beauceville CHSLD;
  • The CLSC of Saint-Joseph;
  • The Sainte-Marie CLSC;
  • The CLSC Etchemins
  • The CLSC of Saint-Romuald;
  • The Hôtel-Dieu in Lévis;
  • The Mgr-Bourget youth center in Lévis;
  • The CLSC of Saint-Lazare-de-Bellechasse;
  • The Laurier-Station CLSC;
  • Montmagny hospital;
  • The CLSC of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli;
  • Thetford Mines hospital.

Remember that the APTS collective agreement expired more than a year and a half ago. Among other things, the Alliance calls for better salary conditions, but also working conditions. Work overload and workforce retention are also concerns of the union.

The APTS has 60,000 members in Quebec. They offer a multitude of services in terms of diagnosis, rehabilitation, nutrition, psychosocial intervention and clinical and prevention support.
