Health students, do you know ERNESTI?

Ernesti triples its number of “Owls”, exceeds 15,000 nights of support and announces a fundraiser!

Ernesti democratizes the night watch at home, by connecting the elderly or people with loss of autonomy with healthy students, called the “Chouettes”. Since the start of the health crisis, the start-up has been gaining momentum. More and more families are using the platform to provide their loved ones with a reassuring presence at night. A system that makes it possible to limit hospital stays (especially in the midst of a health crisis), to postpone the often painful placement of relatives in medical institutions and to promote intergenerational links. To support its development, Ernesti has just completed a fundraising of 310,000 euros with Paris Business Angels and independent Business Angels.

A family story … to fight against isolation.

The Ernesti project is above all a family affair. The mother of the two co-founders, a general practitioner, frequently received patients where one of the parents could no longer stay alone at night. Some of these patients canceled their medical appointments because they couldn’t find someone to look after their loved one. Faced with this observation, Séverine and Quentin Zakoian (twins) decided to take concrete action. In 2017, they created a platform for connecting health students and people with loss of autonomy. The objective is threefold. For families, it is the assurance of having a reliable person to look after their loved one at a reasonable cost (52 € / night after tax deduction). For those accompanied, it is a reassuring presence at their home when they need it. For the students, it is an opportunity to live an enriching experience, rewarding for their CV and remunerative (50 € / night).

One goal: to meet growing demands across the country.

Since the onset of the health crisis, families, worried about their most fragile and isolated parents, have increasingly turned to home services. With 5,500 health students registered on the platform today, and more than 15,000 nights spent, Ernesti is mobilizing to provide its service to as many people as possible. For this, the start-up announces that it has signed two partnerships with the supplementary pension funds AG2R Agirc-Arrco and Malakoff Humanis Agirc-Arrco. A collaboration that allows the management of nights, to further democratize access to their service. Also, the start-up announces that it has completed a first fundraising in the amount of € 310,000 with Paris Business Angels and independent Business Angels, such as Michaël Amar (Alma Résidences Seniors), Amélie Faure (Serena), Antoine Chatelain (Wecasa) or Marc Batty (Dataiku).

“This fundraising will allow us to accelerate the technological development of our platform, and to develop our presence at the national level and particularly in rural areas. To do this, we will double our network of “Owls by the end of the year.” specifies Quentin Zakoian, CEO and co-founder of Ernesti.
