Reporting directly to the Plant Director, the Occupational Health & Safety Director will lead the occupational health and safety programs in a “World Class Manufacturing” (WCM) production context. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with provincial and corporate laws, developing and maintaining the ISO systems in place as well as creating an autonomous culture in terms of environment, health & safety within our operations.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Define and implement the strategic roadmap for the EHS development of the site with the plant manager,
• Act as a change agent in matters of health and safety prevention for employees and managers of the organization.
• Use EHS analysis tools to calculate and monitor KPIs and data relating to the environment and health & safety of the WCM Safety pillar.
• Maintain and develop health and safety training programs to ensure adequate training for all plant employees in accordance with Saint-Gobain health and safety standards.
• Inspect and assess workplaces, equipment, and operational processes to ensure compliance with government health & safety regulations, as well as company and industry standards.
• Identify security and risk analysis opportunities, lead workshops and develop corrective and proactive action solutions.
• Assist and coordinate with team members during work accident investigations and analyzes.
• Coordinate and lead the activities of the joint plant health & safety committee.
• Develop sustainable development approaches, deploy Saint-Gobain environmental policies
• Participate with other EHS directors in Canada in weekly coordination meetings and exchange of good practices.
