Maneuver, Fials: 100 million approved for indemnity to health professions, union commitment recognized.
Approved in the Budget Law a specific allowance for ‘personal protection and health promotion’ to be attributed to other technical health professions, rehabilitation, prevention, obstetricians, social workers and health and social workers, starting from 1 January 2021 for a total amount of 100 million per year in the next contract renewal.
“We welcome with applause the go-ahead from the Budget Commission to the amendment for which we fought strenuously alongside the Hon. Elena Carnevali, leader of the Pd group in the Social Affairs Committee of the Chamber, first signatory of the proposal which has now become the property of all parliamentary groups of majority and minority. The approval does justice, in part, to all health and social health professionals and operators who contribute to implementing the right to health, thus remedying the incomprehensible error of the first version of the budget bill, for which there was only the need to enhance the nursing staff, although very important in the NHS “.
So Giuseppe Carbone, general secretary of the Fials union.
The union has proposed not only an increase in the specific professional allowance for nurses, with greater appropriations in the Budget Law, but also to attribute, with additional funding (other than those provided for nurses), the allowance to other health professions .
“Unfortunately during the parliamentary process – he informs Carbone – the Budget Commission rejected other changes and additions supported by us, just as necessary for the enhancement of the NHS staff, such as freelance intramoenia and the exclusivity allowance. But we are not giving up and will continue to fight to achieve these goals. We will do this by asking parliamentarians to re-submit the rejected amendments in other measures and speed up the process of the bill presented to the Chamber and the Senate on intramural activity and the exclusivity allowance ”.
“After the contractual recognition for the contribution to the fight against Covid to doctors and nurses – explains the secretary general Fials – today that also reaches the other health professions. This indemnity partially completes the due appreciation for all professions, which in the first line contribute to responding to the new health needs, to contrast the current pandemic and which represent the fulcrum of the entire health system. Thanks to their skills and professionalism we are redesigning the health system of the future “. “Of course, we would have preferred that these sums – he concludes – as we have always maintained, were granted from 1 January 2021 as to doctors, and not to the contract renewal which could take a very long time”.
