General Mobilization at the time of Covid for Healthcare Professionals is underway. The call to “arms” directly on social media.
At the time of COVID, where distancing is king and distances do not allow gatherings, even claims find their own difficulties. Despite these difficulties, after the 2021 draft budget law, a group of ten health professionals in the sector (laboratory technicians and other technical-health figures), coming from different regions of the peninsula, launched a group on social media, Facebook private from the name “Health professionals: mobilization against the budget maneuver“(Has about 7000 members).
“We were born with the aim of fighting against inequities and discriminatory forms that will probably arise from here on against some professionals or, worse, against groups of professionals” – the categories involved make it known through a press release, that they reiterate: “To institutions, newspapers and the state that ignore our presence, let’s say enough!
Our exponential growth must make us think: about six thousand health professionals, in just under two days, gathered to claim what is rightfully theirs and to protest against the draft budget law 2021 which not only does not value it professionalism and does not economically reward their skills, but it does not even mention them!
A real action of discrimination by the government towards those who professionally guarantee the essential levels of care. “
But health professionals are keen to point out that: “It is not a question of principle, absolutely not. The positions taken do not lead far and sour the spirits. The battle of these professionals is about dignity and respect. Victims perhaps of a certain policy that is very careful to advertise but not inclined to deepen, a political class that probably does not know the role of each individual health professional and does not even deepen their skills and level of study. The political class seems not even aware that, without the work of these professionals, doctors and nurses would not be able to intervene on patients to try to improve their conditions and perhaps save their lives or make a diagnosis. She is probably unaware of the fact that, without the trench work of these professionals, she would not be able to call heroes who are on the front lines, but also under the re fl ectors.
We are continually left in the shadows, and mentioned only in the credits.
… For this and for our professional dignity we ask and will continually ask for greater respect, involvement, and that this indifference towards us immediately cease, and we ask not to forget or probably pretend to forget the Technical, rehabilitative and prevention health professions. Our Constitution speaks clearly with articles 35 and 36 but it is bizarre to find an article that gives an example of the injustice that the other health professions are experiencing not mentioned in the latest draft budget law just approved, which will still be much discussed (we hope !) in parliament, precisely in articles 72 and 73. In fact, in article 69 of the Italian Constitution we read the exact words: “Members of Parliament receive an allowance established by law”. The MPs then receive their allowance! Behind this sacrosanct principle we now ask ourselves: why should nurses who are health care professionals like us be rewarded with speci fi c allowances and all others not? Are we the children of a lesser god or are we even not fully integrated into this state?
What’s the answer? “It was an oversight of a hand” ?! Our request to the State is not a claim but a necessity that concerns our need to have a role in society, which is useful for our dignity as well as for the well-being and public health since we are fully committed to counteract the current health emergency as Doctors and Nurses do, sometimes on the front line exposed like all the others to dangerous factors not only microbiological.
The national contract is for all professionals in the sector and no one should be left behind; we do not want Serie A and Serie B professionals within the usual contract. Is the principle different for those who legislate? At this point we need answers as well as an official apology from the institutions, the ones that we serve every day with our work without ever asking for anything except at this moment when the priority is the defense of our professional dignity.
Our patience is over and, if necessary, we will be ready to fight to claim our rightful placement among the professions at work and in society.
To all categories that intend to mobilize even in times of Covid, since there are no squares and the possibility of gathering, it is possible to make their voice heard in a clear, autonomous way, claiming in an incisive way but above all in a democratically correct and constructive style. “
