The vaccine against Covid-19, which is applied to girls and boys from 5 to 11 years of age, reduces the risk of infection and hospitalization, as well as the severity of the condition in pediatric patients due to this disease, so it is important and It is necessary to apply it to the child population of these ages, said the Secretary of Health of the Government of the State of Colima.
He added that there is scientific evidence with studies that were carried out in several countries around the world in 2021, that the vaccine is beneficial and whose results speak of its effectiveness in children under these ages.
Speaking of the importance of receiving the anticovid vaccine in this age range, the Pediatrics service of the Maternal and Child Hospital announced that these studies showed that two doses of the vaccine reduce the risk of infection and the severity of the clinical picture of Covid. -19 in girls and boys in this age group.
Likewise, the vaccine reduces the risk of systemic inflammatory syndrome, which is an aggressive condition that occurs between two and six weeks after infection in patients.
He indicated that with this vaccine, girls and boys are less likely to have adverse reactions, as is the case with adolescents and even adults, and added that there are minors who test positive for Covid-19, but parents do not realize that in their children there is a clinical picture, which complicates the minor’s health.
Finally, it established that the benefit of vaccinating girls and boys from 5 to 11 years of age is greater than the possible complications that could arise in case of contagion, since the vaccine helps develop antibodies so that in case of illness the body has more resources to defend against the virus.
