The SUD Santé Social Federation denounces the new series of measures announced by President Macron on Monday, July 12, which will be debated again as a matter of urgency and over the summer period from July 21. Union of the Health, Social and Animation sectors, the SUD Santé Social Federation is in favor of any reasonable and sensible health measure which would make it possible to stop the Covid 19 pandemic. However, for more than a year now, we let us note the inconsistency of the measures taken and henceforth of the authoritarian drifts that the government claims to put in place. On July 12, President Macron announced several measures that dangerously threaten individual and collective freedoms without providing a credible health solution.
Vaccination obligation under threat of sanctions or even dismissal … extended health pass, paid tests, recovery plan. For the SUD Santé Social Federation, if the aim of vaccination is universal protection, the government must offer it to everyone while leaving each individual the possibility of joining or not, and by lifting the patents on vaccines for that the entire world population can benefit from it. However, from September 15, 2021, the government wants to force employees to be vaccinated under penalty of sanctions, dismissals or even deprivation of salary, a threat of extreme brutality. After using their image to galvanize the crowds and offer them a medal, health workers are today the scapegoats of a public health policy from the start marked by a dramatic lack of credibility. They are today stigmatized as the main vectors of the virus while the same government sent them, destitute, without equipment, without protection on the front line in the face of Covid and sometimes even despite their Covid + status!
For this government, its failures are always the fault of others, in short. But how will our health system function if the government continues to organize the degradation of working conditions or to lay off unvaccinated staff? What is this government looking for? An unprecedented social crisis, a public and sanitary desert, the inequality of care in the territory; this for ever more privatization and the profit of a minority? With the extended health pass, it is everyone’s fundamental freedoms that are ultimately called into question, whether to move around, to go to work, to go shopping, to take care of oneself … When will the patient return? worker booklet? Making PCR tests pay for the unvaccinated means degrading access to screening for the most vulnerable populations, which is an aberration in terms of public health and the fight against the pandemic. Making a free health care system conditional on a moral judgment could, for example, lead to the end of reimbursement for cancer care for smokers. Finally, the stimulus plan announced by the government does not mention that of health. Where are the resources for the public health and social service? In particular for workers in the medico-social sector who have been waiting for several months for an increase in their salary but who will have the obligation to be vaccinated.
For years, the Government’s response has always been the same: closing places, services and establishments; working conditions still degraded which lead to wear and tear of staff. For all these reasons, we call on people to join the citizen appeal against the health pass on Saturday July 17 at 2 p.m., place du Vigan in Albi.
